Getting good color reproduction on a dell 2007fpw

I do a lot of fairly color sensitive design work for school... After just switching from my old 2005fpw to this 2007wfp, i've noticed a much bluer and quite darker tone to everything. Rather than just set it to what i think looks good, is there a way to calibrate to more true colors?

Also, is there a good sit or program to test dead/stuck pixels, banding, etc.?
