Getting files off my old HD

Ok I'm in a bit of a pinch. I ran DFT on my old HD and problems were found. To fix the problems I need to wipe the disk. But there is stuff on the disk I want to keep. With no way to back it up, that I know of with no burner, I have a few questions.

1.) With the new harddrive I'm getting, if I install the new OS onto it and make the old harddrive a slave, will I be able move the files off the old HD onto the new HD?

2.) If one is possible, how do I do that? (Anything beyond making the old HD slave to the first etc and what was outlined in another thread)

3.) After I move the files, do I go back to DFT and wipe the old drive, partitions and all?

Yep, just make it a slave...then you'll be able to move files from it to your heart's desire

as far as #3, that sounds like a good plan

what's DFT by the way?
