Getting drunk affects short term memory?

JEDI

Lifer
was at a party yesterday (sat) and got a little too much to drink.

this morning i wake up and cant remember how i got home. so i have no clue where my car is.

i call my friends asking about my car. he tells me that i told him on fri that my car is in the shop.

WTF?! anyone else have this bad case of memory loss caused by alkohol?!

It also makes you spell like crap.

they say that if you do something while drunk, and forget when sober, you can remember it again when you get drunk again.

for example... if you put your keys somewherewhile drunk... and cannot find them sober... get drunk again and you can remember where you left them.

That means you drank enough to cause brain damage. Good job, your mother never dropped you on your head and you never fell off your bike, but you're undoing years of good luck. I'll never understand the appeal of brain damage.. You can't even remember the supposed good feeling of being drunk.

Yea, it is called state learning, and is well proven and goes for other states then alcohol intoxication; it goes for caffeine as well. So all you collage students out there staying up all night cramming for exams fueled by huge amounts of caffeine need to remember to take a large amount of caffeine right before the exam to put yourself back in the same state that you were in when you learnt the information

To the OP: That is not short term memory. Short term memory lasts only seconds, long term memory is what is affected if you can't remember something from yesterday.

As someone that's fought ADD and allergies a lifetime, it just pisses me off to see people throw away their health.
