getting DMA to work?

Hello,
I have a problem making my DMA setting stay on for my DVD-rom drive and also for my burner.

When I go through the normal proccess of turning on the DMA for the drives through system properties,(putting a check mark in the little box next to DMA) It all looks good but it asks me to reboot for the changes to take affect and when I do, it defaults back to no DMA....

What am I doing wrong?
Why doesn't it stay on?

I am using an ABIT kt7-raid with the zt bios.
1gig t-bird 200fsb
128mb pc100 ram
sb live value
diamond stealth s540 32mb video card
standard win modem
30 gb maxtor hd
deer 300w ps

Any thoughts or ideas or bios settings that I may not be aware of would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You can try going in to your BIOS and setting the DMA mode as "None" and let Winbloze handle it. No guarantee, but it may work.

Hey guys,

I got this sorted out.....
I forgot to mention that I have the Delta brand 12x DVD player, you know the one from the hot deals forum, $39.95 after rebate. Well all I did was to flash the ROM in the DVD to the latest version and viola!! It is now recognized as UDMA 2 and the DMA check box in system properties stays checked.

Thanks for all your help!!!
