hey fellas,
i just killed my laptop by spilling some coffee on it so i was wondering if there is any way for me to get the data off the drive. i'm pretty sure the hard drive isn't damaged.

i'm not too knowledgeable about laptop components but i know desktops. i don't have another laptop that i can use to swap hard drives or anything like that. i don't know what type of connections laptop hard drives use but i'm sure they are very different from desktops (both power and ide).

i tried to find some info on google but no dice. thanks for your help.

Usually a hard drive can be accessed by removing the keyboard. They are smaller than normal desktop ones and spin at a slower rpm. They can be hooked up to a desktop system via an adapter that can be had on ebay just like this one here. Just search around on ebay or find a repetable place to purchase an adapter. You can always get your money back by just selling it again on ebay to someone else. Good luck on your quest to get your data back:)
