getting close to getting a STi [Updated]

I found a blue 04 WRX STi w/ 9k mi for $26500 locally (nocal). Is that a good price to start with? I'll negotiate a little bit.

Secondly, is there any more mature WRX forum? I've visit a couple and they are mostly youngster members (< mid 20s) flooded with question like what mod can give you more powers and so on.

[UPDATE]
I am getting a blue 2004 STi tomorrow, yay!!! The car is in great shape with less than 9000 mi and no mod except a turbo timer and tints.

[UPDATE]
Got the car and pink slip today! but my wife drove it to work right away! I really miss her now... I mean the car. I can't concentrate at work... must drive...

I would look into the owner very carefully.. though that car is pretty bullet proof as far as transmission, etc you have to wonder who wants to dump a 2 year old car with only 9k miles on it.

Someone who needs the cash? 🙂

Well of course there are reasons 🙂

I just mean look at the owner is all I am saying, with that kind of car.

exactly. about half my friends can barely drive around town because they cant afford the gas the car burns thanks to all the mods they strapon.

One thing I overlooked when I bought my car was to CHECK WITH YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY before you purchase. My insurance is tolerable, but I wouldn't be able to afford my car if I weren't under my mom's plan. I still pay almost $730 for 6 months and that's with good student, multiple vehicle, and like 3 or 4 other discounts applied. I'm going to take a defensive driving course to lessen my insurance as well. 😛

Some have reported better gas mileage with Cobb Stage 1. 🙂

yeah a 2 yr old car with 9k mi is not an easy find. The owner says he only uses the car as a weekend car as he drives another car for daily commute, but of course i'll do some careful inspection as well There are STis with even less milage on ebay but i don't wanna go thru the trouble of getting a used car from another state

exactly. I got an online quote from AAA and I can get full coverage for under $800/6 mo. so it's affordable.

People on Nasioc arn't exactly mature. Most STI drivers arn't exactly mature... A lot of highschoolers on there. A lot of good information also, you just have to find your way through the bs.

It's a good price. However, there's always the chance that someone beat the hell out of it. I have the regular WRX, so feel free to PM me with any questions regarding the WRX Platform.

You better not be some fat guy!!!
Almost everytime I see a STi it is another overweight middle aged man or some overweight early 20's driver.
Only twice have I seen normal weight people driving STi's on the roads.

Anyways hurray for another Subaru STi fan!!! D@mn I love those cars.
Too bad i'm poor and insurance would kill me if I ever do get one.

What's the big deal if they're overweight?

I get slightly better gas mileage than stock in my WRX with EcuTek stage 3.

It's odd that you often read these claims about the 350Z's prowess over the STi on random internet message boards but it's never backed up by track timeslips or reviews in car magazines...

Oh, and tell your fsckin' asshat friend to save that bullsh!t for the track.

i want to say how juvenile and irrelevant this observation is.....

but it's so true  it always seems to be a fat white 25 year old IT guy in tapered pants and beat up tennis shoes

While I agree that Nasioc is full of posers and assholes, I'd also say that it operates on about the same level as AT.

As for STi drivers not being mature, you are comparing this to what?... '94 Civic drivers who rice out their cars?

And while it is true that there are a lot of parents out there with more money than brains who buy their teenagers WRX's or STi's, that is the minority of owners. Most are in their 30's. A local (but nationally known) Subaru tuning shop had a BBQ a few months back that I went to and I don't think a single person there was younger than 25.

I said highway. What part of that do you not understand? I guess you don't know much about cars and think 1/4 is how you judge a race on the highway.

He loves his 350z more than he loved his STI.

& the person he was racing was my other friend who had the time had a stock 350z convertible but now has a turbo and some other mods putting 500HP to the wheels.
