Weighed in at 208 yesterday. Down from 340 last June. Going for 165. Got into my size 36's yesterday down from 54.

If anyone out there is trying to loose weight here is my advice:
Buy a bike
Ride the bike :)
Really, when I first got the bike, I rode around the block. I've been upping it every since. I'm keeping up with the fast group riders locally now. Other day did 20 miles @ 21 mph average in rolling hills.

Blood pressure is down from 165/100 to 102/54 yesterday. No sleep apnea any more. My resting heart rate is down from 90 something to 40 something. I feel so much better. I don't post this so much as to brag, but I know that this forum and posts like it motivated me, so I'm hoping this motivates someone.

As the nike commercials say, just do it!

I've started eating better too, that helps. I'm up to 500 miles or so a month on the bike. My 17 yr old son and I are going on a 500 mile ride to New Orleans this summer. Hopefully, I'll break 200 soon, and then I can go skydiving like I've always wanted.

Nice! 20 miles @ 21 mph is a really good clip. I used to ride a lot when I was a kid, but now I doubt I can keep even 12 mph for a rolling 5. I'm just too scared of getting run over by something, and skinny road saddles take some getting used to at first.

You can still go skydiving @ 208 - you just have to pay extra for each pound you're over 200 or whatever their limit is for tandem.

Great job! I'm sure you must feel alot better. Not only physically, but mentally/emotionally as well!

Bah, save it as a reward for the 200 milestone. Congrats on the weight loss! That's a pretty big commitment to go from 340 to 165. Mind boggling. It feels great to get back into shape and be healthy again.

Gratz on the weightloss. I'm currently working on dropping some as well...going from 255 down to 205. Lost 20lbs in a month so far and still going. From what I can tell, probably lost more than that in fat but have gained some good strength along the way as well.

You mean, they won't break out the cargo chutes if you're over 200?? ;)

Episodic, nice job on the weight loss! Can I ask what type/make/model of bike you bought? I'd be into riding bike for short trips around town (although I live on top of a hill, so coming home would be the real workout!), but have wondered what you can buy that will handle heavier (initial) weights? Seems all I see go on sale is the 26" frames, that might handle your average 200 pounder, but nothing for my (ahem!) heftier size. I did hear that a 29" frame is better for tall (6' or taller) guys too.
