Basically everything starts flashing and I get a BSOD stating that either the hardware or the driver itself is stuck in an 'infinite loop' (caused by nv4_disp). PC then dumps memory and reboots or in some situations the Monitor Just turns off completely and it doesn't want to turn back on until the computer is restarted.... I'm using the latest drivers from Nvidia (albeit over 6 months old).

Specs:

A64 3200+
1 gig ram
Nvidia Sparkle 6800 GS

It looks like some kind of overheating or driver problem, try to monitor the GPU temperature.

Idle temperature is 40 - 45C while load temperature is 75 - 80C which seems acceptable.

Well, is a bit high for such GPU, I can recall that my old X800XT PE which is manufactured with a slighly more advanced manufacturing process would freeze up at 80C, once I removed the cooler and clean it up and put new AS5 on the GPU, it never got above 73C and never gave me any problems. And the 6800GS is a more complex GPU which will be more sensitive to overheating. Also If that card is AGP I recommend to turn of AGP's Fast Write and set the AGP Aperture Size to 128MB, not higher than that.

The card is PCI-E and this card is supposedly good until 125C.. well.. thats what nvidia say atleast.

test drive unlimited is very odd with nvidia cards for some reason, people report problems left and right. try a set of 3rd party drivers from say guru3d or tweaksrus
