Getting blinded by mis-aligned headlights is really annoying

I'm sitting at a stoplight that always gets backed up about 2 or 3 blocks back. It usually takes 5-10 minutes to get through this light. I'm stopped at the very back of this mess and then comes a car behind me. His left headlight was just totally blinding me through my left side mirror. Since it was a suv and many of them tend to have their lights a little higher than cars I'd just try and ignore it. Not 30 seconds later I have my hand to the side of my face to block the glare because it was too intense. After sitting there for almost 10 minutes I finally get through the light and sure enough when I looked back in my rear view mirror his/her left headlight was pointed way too high.

I know it's just another minor annoyannce on the road but it could be pretty dangerous for on coming traffic in certain situations.

I still want to mount bright foglights in my rear window for situations like these. Give them a taste of their own medicine.

I'd go with a 10M candlepower spotlight...

Mmmm, that could be fun. You could even aim it.

You should have raced him by putting the car in reverse and slamming into him.

What's just as annoying is when you're driving around with your properly aligned low beam HIDs on, and oncoming traffic flashes you thinking you have your high beams on.

That's the price you pay for getting a car with HIDs...in exchange for being able to see better, you take the risk that everyone in the oncoming lane will be blinded and crash into you.

And if it's an aftermarket kit, well, chances are they aren't proper at all.

Most of the time I'm far away from them by the time it's dark.

Those bigfoot trucks with more candlepower than the Hatteras light are ridiculous though.

Most systems have a pretty sharp cutoff (not to mention autoleveling systems) in the light pattern, or even a stairstep on the driver side (driver side cutoff is lower than passenger side to help reduce spray into oncoming traffic). I've never been bothered by OEM HIDs, but I know that the unique look they have aren't the cars high beams.

You're right about the aftermarket kits, or people who try to install improper bulbs into existing projectors. Mine are OEM, and have a razor sharp cutoff, which actually is pretty short, so I never really worried checking them.

it's a strategy. misaligned headlights make you move to another lane so they can zip by u.

it's like high beaming w/highbeaming

I seldom suffer from misalignment, but the fvcking blue lights piss me off!!! Seriously, they completely blind me from a huge distance, and if they're close to me I get a headache in about 10 seconds. The things should be illegal.
