Getting an SSD

I seriously thinking of getting an SSD, but I don't know how best to use it. Should I get the largest I can afford and install as much of my stuff on it or get something like a 60GB Vertex 3 and just install windows and only essential apps on it like my browser and so on.

IMO 60GB is not enough for the OS drive + apps.

looks like you're packing an older c2 based machine. probably be better off with an intel 320 80GB or 120GB.

I recently upgraded to the Intel 320 120GB SDD so I can give you my thoughts.
First, the performance is unbelievable coming from a mechanical drive. All that thrashing from the mechanical drive, and waiting, is gone.
Second, I went with the Intel 320 for the sake of reliability. I was willing to give up a little performance for what I believe to be a very reliable drive and company in general.

Now as for size. I have the $120GB drive and have everything that was in "My Documents" on it except for Video, Music, and Photos which I have on a mechanical drive. Honestly I wish I had gotten the 160GB model as I think I could have put everything on it except for large video files.

yeah. very reliable drives intel has. i had my G1 160GB in raid0 for over 2 years before upgrading to intel 320 160GB raid0 a few months ago. my steam drive is an m4. been running supercache to take some of the randomwrite pounding off my SSD. my G1s still had tons of life in them and i put them in one of my laptops Lenovo x120e.
