Getting an error when trying to install Windows XP

I am trying to install XP on a friend's pc. It's an older HP desktop, about 2-3 years old. I boot to the XP disc and it acts like it's gonna install, it copies files etc., then when it says it's getting ready to start I get a blue error screen and it gives a few options, something about disabling shadowing and caching, or booting in safe mode. Here is the error

0x0000008e
0xc0000006, 0x8090eea7, 0xfca4d91c, 0x00000000

There should be more to the error that than, should be referencing a .sys file (most likely). Second, try a bart's pe or other boot disk and run a good memtest on the system (most likley their is a hw issue)
