Guys, I have an a7n8x that is non deluxe. I am getting an nf7-s. That has the soundstorm on it. I need all the pointers I can get with this board such as which bios is best and etc. I have a barton 2500 and 2 sticks of corsair xms 3200. I also have a maxtor 80 gig 8 meg cache drive... will I need a sata convertor or no? The rev I am getting is 2.0. Hope its a good rev. Help a brotha out. thanks alot!!!

I dont use SATA, and SATA isnt any faster than IDE.
There are also issues with data corruption with SATA.

So, my SATA adapter is still in the box.

Your components are similar to mine. You should have a very nice box when completed.

Not any faster, but frees up IDE resources for other things, plus eliminates any delays caused by other shared device on the IDE channel. IMHO makes jobs like copying cd's faster. Rev 2 and bios 18 solves all the coruption issues.

Abit ships a converter, Install windows using the IDE bus before switching it over to SATA. Rev. 2 is all that is shipping now, unless you buy from some schmucky warehouse that does little Abit business. Mine already came with bios 18, so no need to flash.

Have fun! The NF7-S with the XP-2500 Barton is a great combo. Glad I went for it now.
