Getting a win98 box on my net

I am trying to add a win98 box to my network and its able to ping everything on the net and on the internet but when i open up IE on it, It sits there for a long time and finally brings up "Cannot find server or DNS error"

my settings are this:
specify IP 192.168.0.110
mask 255.255.255.0
WINS disabled
Gateway 192.168.0.1
Enable DNS
Host: Sh*tbox
server: 192.168.0.1 also tried my actual dns server ip address
Suffix: used the one that my XP box is using

I went through that little wizard in IE and selected LAN and all that to. Anyone know whats goin on here? thanks

Is the win98 box using the gateway as DNS as well? Or do you have any other DNS servers you can point DNS requests to?

no other dns servers, so yes i tried using gateway as dns and tried using just the dns ip address that my router is using.

Alright, thanks I gave that a try and still same thing. I can ping everything but IE sits there saying Website found waiting for reply and then eventually times out.

Have you tried a static mapping of an address in the HOSTS file? The result could give some more clues... or not. What version of IE is this? Is the 98 box fully patched, etc?
