Getting a tablet for Christmas - should I ask for something better?

So my Dad got himself one of these at Walmart on Black Friday:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/RCA-Vikin...ndroid-5.0-Lollipop-Operating-System/45804384

I set it up for him, and I really like it: the Android OS, the detachable keyboard, the screen size, good weight. My Mother picked up on this, so they are getting me one for Christmas. But, she wanted to get me "a better one," as she put it.

Keeping in mind the things I liked about it, I am not sure "something better" would really be worth the extra money. About the only thing I didn't like is that it seemed a little slow, and of course I don't know how long it would last.

I also don't know how it handles various video files. I got my wife a Galaxy Tab last Christmas, and it plays pretty much everything we have (mkv, avi, mp,4 etc), so if anyone knows of a limitation on the RCA, please share.

Other than movies, I would be using it for web surfing, checking email, and some Facebook games.

Appreciate any input you folks have.

Well, what are you looking at for 'better'? I mean its $80..... That leaves a lot of room for better.

I don't know. Like I said it was a little slow, I don't know if it plays the video formats I want, and, if I were to get a bit pickier, the screen could be a little brighter. But I do want it to be 10", have a detectable keyboard, and run the Android OS. Just wondering if there is anything out there significantly better, meeting that criteria.

well since you didn't list a price limit you might as well ask for an ipad air 2 samsung note tablet.

Significantly better? Of course. Depends on what you want to spend. For a relatively cheap tablet I think the shield k1 is a screaming deal.
http://shield.nvidia.com/store/tablet/k1 its 8" though

You're married and your folks are older. You're beyond old enough to not be asking for gifts anymore. If they insist, I'd ask for a family night out at a restaurant. :)

Heh, you don't know my parents. In all honesty, I hope they have forgotten about the whole thing. Would be convenient in some situations, but hardly a need.

I'm jelly.. I wished I've got doting parents like yours.. :)

The most wonderful people in the world (and not just talking about this instance). They did get me a Viking Pro, and it is a fine machine. They fit a nice little niche between a phone and a laptop.

Thanks for the replies. If anybody wants any info on this tablet, let me know.
