first i need something that does all the archive formats, zip, rar, par, sfv, and everything else.. preferably one program that does them all... also looking for a program that plays all movie formats, be it wmv, asf, vob, mpg, avi, etc for mac... free antivirus?

I don't know about all your formats, but Finder handles tar, zip and gzip decently; probably bzip too. There are simple equivalents on the command line, of course.

If quicktime doesn't satisfy your codec needs, vlc is pretty good, although it doesn't cover everything.

Antivirus? Why? I mean, if you're really paranoid or are specifically concerned about transmitting things to nearby windows machines, there's a port of clam av to osx but what a silly hassle.
