I'm buying from newegg:
P4b266-C with a Intel Pentium 4 1.6A GHz 512K Socket 478 Processor.
I'm big time out of the loop on hardware and have four simple questions:
1) That is the CPU I want right? That's the beast that averages 2.4 ghz on overclockers.com...?
2) My current ATX case (bought it last July - no-name case) will need a new P4-compatible power supply, right?
3) RAM. I am buying 512 megs ram. Brand name is gonna cost me around $155 for PC 2100. However at pricewatch if I get no-name stuff I can get that for $108, or $124 for PC2700. I assume the board can take 2700. Now is there a reason I should get brand name? I've used no-name almost exclusively in the past and never had any problems, but since I aim to be running at an above-spec bus level that will throw the ram out right? Like I said I'm out of the loop; I don't even know right now how this combination of mobo/cpu interacts but I know it's the one I want
4) On this mobo is the PCI and AGP bus totally independent of the cpu bus?
Thanks for help. This celeron 1000 is killing me every day.
