I'm upgrading from Full size to King size bed. It's coming tomorrow, my wife was asking if we need to tip the delivery guy. Anyone have experience in this? If I should tip the guy, how much should I tip? The bed cost $1200, am I suppose to tip 15% of the cost of the bed?

I'd figure someone at anandtech should know this..

I'd give him like $5 if he helps bring it inside or upstairs... or if you really want to leave a $180 tip.. it's up to you.

Good question. The best person to ask would be a furniture/bed delivery guy, I'm sure we must have a few among us.

I would not give a cash tip, because it is their job.

However, if they do have to haul it up 4 flights of stairs, then I would offer a bottled water or a similar refreshement. I do that when I call my UPS guy for a special pickup (Free for me, otherwise $4/package).

Feed the guy and give him something to drink, if he is talkative and nice, then tip like $5-$10

Whenever I get big things delievered I tip the guys that bring it in. Usually around 5-10$ a person depending on how helpful they are. When we moved into this house we tipped each of the movers $50 as I feel they don't get paid enough and they did a good job. Then again im pretty generous when it comes to things like this. All in all its up to you.

Somebody's going to be delivering and setting up a king sized bed and probably hauling your old bed out? I'd say that calls for $15-$25 per mover depending on how many floors they've got to go up.

I chewed the sh!t over a couple of Buds with the guy who cleaned my chimney a few years ago. When he got up to leave I asked him what I owed him for the job. He said "toss me a twenty and we'll call it even". Alcohol is the key. ;)

I've only had one bed delivered before. There were two delivery guys, they had to carry it up to the 2nd floor and they set the bed up. I tipped each one $10.00. Of course, that was 10 years ago, you might want to account for inflation!

Well, 8602081, if you're fem, you can offer to test out the bed with the delivery guy(s).

Otherwise, a fiver is usually cool.
