I lost an EVGA 6800gt about a week ago during a "late night" thunderstorm.

Just curious if anyone here has had experience sending a bad card in, that is "Out of Warranty" to the Manufacturer and what the cost was to repair? Not sure if it's worth it for a 6800gt.
I have everything that came with it originally if that helps. I emailed EVGA just now and asked them around the same question.

Thanks.

Are you sure its the video card ;*( could be the mobo or cpu fired. I once had the same issue but my Video card was fine but mobo and CPU were totally fired ;(.

I think you might be SOL. I was told ( admittadily by a less desireable mfg ) that they do not "fix" old cards. They will replace it if under warranty, but after that go buy a new card.
Things may be different with EVGA though. I thought they had a lifetime warranty. Are you sure you are out ?

Not sure. I bought it retail but just figured on a 1 year Warranty.

As stated before you should check to see if your other components are fine. (Testing them in a different machine if possible) If a thunderstorm knocked out your computer, you should make sure your power supply and motherboard are fine since they normally go first.

As for warranty it depends on when you bought it really. When did you purchase the card?
Most cards won't be fixed, especially if the circuitry is fried, and would instead be replaced.

I would call EVGA to see if you have any type of warranty on your card.

a lot of evga cards are lifetime warranty. i wouldnt doubt your is if you were the original buyer.

some of the newer budget models are 2 year warranties (the 7600gs , and the 7600gts with only 1 dvi) .

that said, they would probably never fix a card unless it was just something easy (like a capacitor came off). it would definitely be a replacement, and if you are out of warranty they probably wont do it. that said, they probably ahve no more 6800gts anyway, so if you do get a replacement, i bet they will give you a 7600gt or something else.

I bought the card a couple years back. I also got all the components checked and yes, the vc is dead.

Did some digging and found the original invoice (I thank my wife for that)
Purchased from EVGA 7/21/04 ($419.00 shipped)

On the back of the box it states: One Year Limited Warranty with Registration.
So it looks like I'm out of luck even if I did register it when I purchased.
