I going to get the Nec ND-3550A. It seems to be a good burner. Now if I get the retail it comes with Nero. Does anyone know which version it comes with? I already have version 5.5.9.13 that came with my liteon 52x cdrom burner. Will the version I have burn DVD's, how about DL-DVDs? I will mainly burn video DVD's that I get from my mini-dv cam. Is Nero even good for this, or should I use something else? Using DVDStyler and CDBurnerXP seems like the cheapest way to go. Does that combo work good to make video DVD's?

Upgrade to the latest firmware for the drive (I love NEC drives (I have 3520A))

I use Nero for everything it's my personal preference though *Current version is 7.0.1.4*

nero 6 ultra edition for me. nero 7 is too bloated and that stupid nero scout...ugh. i know there was a way to get rid of it, but i forget.

cdburnerxp is also a solid choice for a free app.

but...theres always alcohol 120% and clonecd for those, illegal stuff, heh heh.

DVDdecrypter, DVDshrink, Alcohol 120% and Nero are what I keep on hand. Mostly free or trial type software. Nero usually comes in OEM with many drives and Alcohol 120 is worth buying. Decrypter and shrink are free.

DVDdecrypter was acquired by Macrovision so it is no longer going to be supported as a free application. Get the latest free version while you still can.

I just ordered the retail since it has free shipping right now. Thanks for the advice.
