I'm thinking of getting a Dell computer... All I want is opinion on an 8300 or XPS. I don't play games a lot... just video editing, programming (Java, C, HTML, Dreamweaver, etc.), making movies, watching TVs, and general office duties. My main concern is the noise of the fan. What's your opinion?

XPS is mainly for gaming. If you 'll be making movies a RAID setup may be in your favor. Its an option they give you when you're choosing the parts.

Wouldn't it be in his favor to have a RAID setup as a separate partition/drive than his boot drive? In case the raid array fails, He would still be booting to a separate HDD?

Edited for sp...

I agree, but I have really never run into a problem with my RAID 0 array, and it's been running in my server box for about a year I suppose (2 x 80GB Western Digital SE drives).
