Getting a credit card from Citi

I'm about to go to Europe for an extended amount of time. I'm planning on buying a Zune sometime between now and Tuesday. I'd prefer to open up a new card through Citi and take advantage of the xxx TY points at $xxx in purchases. I already have 5x on grocery, gas, and pharmacy and 3x on restaurants, movies, and books, so I'll probably just store away the card afterward.

Will I still have to wait a week or so to get the physical card?

That's what I thought. I've only applied for stuff online, so I wasn't sure if they gave you a temporary card at a physical location.

I applied for AMEX Blue Cash online just this Friday and was approved instantly.
They said card should come in 7-10 days through mail.

So yes, you have to wait for it.

They will probably have you fill out the application online, within their store.
They are completely separate divisions.

whenever I opened a credit card account and needed the card asap, I'd open the account and call later that day or the next day and request a new card asap, that I need it for a business trip (in this case, what I needed the card for) and they were happy to overnight me a card for free. Amex and Visa didn't have any problem with this.

No you won't have to wait, because it is more convenient for customers who wait till the last minute and need a credit card, they have massive credit card printing and encoding machines in the back room for all branches. The security of the blank cards spread all over the country is done without care and the millions of dollars it costs for all of these machines is no big deal.

And just for good measure let me throw in a....what did they say when you called them?

By the way, my wife lost her card (which we found out she didn't - dumbass), they expedited new cards for us overnight for $10 bucks. Maybe you can do this too.
