sooo, i'm in that market for a new laptop. I'll probably be buying used.

Now, I don't want to spend alot of money. I've been looking on ebay a bit, and heres what I think I could get.

Minimum configuration:
PM 1.5ghz
512 ram
intel integrated graphics
60gb 5400 RPM HD

Top configuration
Core duo 1.66
1gb ram
x700 or integrated
120gb 5400 / 80gb 7200

Now, assuming I 'aquire' a copy of vista do you think it will run okay on the top configuration? I'd probably want a gig of ram, but really I wont play games at all. Screen res is probably 1024x768 most likely.

By the time you aquire a copy of vista, you might as well buy a new low-end laptop. They hold their value far too unreasonably well.

under 1000 CAD.

also, does aero glass work on GMA 900? I've seen mixed reviews.

and btw: I work as a senior tech at a small computer shop. my boss gave me a copy of home premium as a bonus one week

also: I really would only like to buy from Lenovo, HP compaq (their buisness line is great) or sony. Im leaning toward HP at the moment, and I might settle for toshiba.
