To get a AAA discount at a hotel you have to be a card holder. I'm not but my brother, who is staying in the same room, happens to be a member. If I book the room in my name for two people, and he stays with me, can we get the discount still? Here is what the hotel website says about this issu:

"AAA members get Preferred Rates, members of the American Automobile Association and the Canadian Automobile Association receive the preferred rate at any Choice Hotel. This rate is eligible for Choice Privileges points at Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Quality, Sleep Inn, Clarion and MainStay Suites hotels, EA$Y CHOICE stamps at Econo Lodge and Rodeway Inn hotels or airline miles at all brands in the U.S. There must be a member in the room to receive the discount."

Judging from the last sentence, we should get the discount, right?

Cuz I'll be using my credit card to pay. He's too busy (med school exam Friday) to deal with this stuff. It's an impromptu trip and I want to get the room before it's taken. We'll be leaving this weekend. I want to literally book it now over the internet.

I assumed that you would be paying...didn't realize you have to put the room under the same name as the cc you're paying with.

Yeah, it sez on their website to put your name as it appears on the CC.

K. I was just afraid that we'd get to the hotel, the discount wouldn't apply, and they'd charge us some new outrageous price.

At Choice hotels I've stayed at (Comfort Suites in Seattle last), they didn't even check my AAA membership.

My brother and his wife is travelled from Ohio to Arizona last week... I think they took 3 or 4 days to do it. He called dad and said that he was impressed - the first hotel clerk asked if he had a AAA membership, and he said "No, but I've got an old dad that does"... and she gave him the discount. He said it worked at all of the hotels they stayed at on the way out! :)
