ok, my Nth try to getting a 6 pack.

i used to goto the gym 3x/week in the quest for cubes. but i only did 30 min of cardio (eliptical machine). and i only stopped eating sugar, but still ate the same amount of food. after a year, i did lose some fat, but still no 6-pack.

then i moved and have been too lazy to look for a gym. and my body shows it :(

i got another job, and the building has a free gym! ok, so i'm thinking 30min cardio EVERYDAY before lunch, then weights after work 3x/week. and for lunch, i gota cut back on the amount of food i eat. so i've decided to only eat 1/2 of what the deli/restaurant gives me, and save the rest for dinner. (As a bonus, this also saves $)

How does that sound?

Do about 100 crunches each night. You'll have a 6 pack in about 6 weeks. However, make sure you're eating sort of healthy and doing cardio workouts (i.e. riding your bike or running) 2-4 times a week.

question on a 2000 calorie diet, how many calories should be burned to lose weight? I go to the gym 3-5 times a week and burn 500-600 calories doing cardio for 30-60 minutes each time. I am looking to drop 15 pounds

If you burn more calories than you take in (i.e. you eat 2000 calories every day and you burn off excess that your body doesn't use for nutrition), you'll lose weight for sure. Just remember that every day tasks burn calories, like washing dishes, typing, and driving.

I would say you're doing fine. Sounds like 500-600 is great.

How about doing cardio for at least 45 minutes times 4 per week? Then hit the weight 3x/week as you planned(all body weight training), just make sure your working your muscle hard with lots of reps at 60-85% of your max. Basically the weight exercise is just enough for you to increase the amount of testosterone your body produce. You should get at least 4 cubes in 8-12 weeks or earlier if you're not that fat.

run and/or swim, its the best way to get your 6 pack to show. crunches and other ab exercises help developing your stomach muscles, but that wont do you any good if you have a layer of fat covering them up.

Er...no.

It depends on what shape he is in CURRENTLY. If he has a layer of fat over the NO AMOUNT OF SIT UPS WILL EVER HELP you get a 6 pack.

You got to lose the fat there. Or get it less and get musclely.

Depends on what type of shape you are in.

I would recommend getting up at around 8am or so in the morning and go run around the block for 40-60mins. Running in the morning is best if you want the cut 6 pack. I did it for 6 weeks and trained as I do as an O-lifter which I do 3x a week. And this I how I ended up looking.

I wasn't overweight or had much fat to start though. In that pic I was around 12.7% bf tested on a machine. A few % either side isn't going to matter too much.

But running is VERY IMPORTANT. Also DON'T DO LOADS AND LOADS of sit ups. Thats not going to help you out if you have a layer of at this stage.

DO INCLINED sit ups with weights on your chest. My incline is about 30* degrees but I have 15kg on my chest. I hit 8 reps and 4 sets. 1 minute rest inbetween only. This helps to get your abbs the *bulk* look so you have the muscle lump out more and help to give the 6 pack look.

Doing lots won't help at an early stage. You can do lots later when you are fairly cut or pretty cut so you can see 6. I'm going to hit 8 myself. Hopefully get that cut by the time I am 25 or so. Takes a lot of effort.

Eat clean, drink water, run and do incline sit ups.

how about finding out how many calories/grams of at are in in meal and adjust accordingly?

i mean if you're eating 2k calories right now and cut that in half, that's not good...

Most men need to be around 8-10% body fat to show a six pack. Some are lucky and can show at 12% or so.

It's got nothing to do with fitness or strength, it's got everything to do with your bodyfat. Who fcuking cares about looking like the guys in videos and magazines. I'd rather be strong and fit.

uh, you have to be pretty strong and fit to have a low % bodyfat. Well not necessarily strong but fit. And uh, if it wasn't for those videos and magazines you probably wouldnt lift weights

swimming will not get you cubes. in response to the cold water, the body will actually keep a layer of fat.

have u ever seen the olympic swimmers and none of them seen to have a developed 6pack?

I'm burning the layer of fat that is covering it...

I burn at least 1000 calories per day (run 2 miles & go on the eliptical machine for at least 30 to 50 minutes...)

I do that every day.. so far I've been doing it for a week... I have 5 more to go to see where I end up with.
