getting 4gighz with xq6700

well i might be asking for to much. I bench 18500 on 3dmark 06 with 8800 gts in sli but i still can not get my chip to hold 4 gighz
qx6700 intel
nf68 evga board
evga 8800 gts
ocz 4 4 4 12 at 800mgz
can any one help?
why do i get artifacts is the board temp a possible problem?

That's usually a sign of an overclock on your video card that's too high, memory-wise.

well i leave the video cards at a speed i tested at before i try clocking up the chip.
i only get it when i push the chip past 3.9 gighz

If you aren't overclocking your video, it could also be that your power supply cannot feed two 4GHz Conroes and your video card at the same time. Remember that the TDP for 3GHz quad-cores is somewhere areound 130W, so you're quite a bit higher than that. Personally, I'd try scaling back on the CPU overclock to see whether or not that helps matters at all. Also, if you are overclocking your frontside bus, you could also try scaling back on that a bit and using a higher multiplier.

or having more than enuf cpu to fully load the vid is generating more heat and pushing u over... or the extra heat in your case is running the temp up...

That's quite an insane 3dmark score. What kind of power supply do you have and how powerful is it? I can't imagine the TDP on the CPU alone.
