ok, gettin a snowboard at the expo this saturday at convention center in cali...
question is, what should i look for/get?
i snowboard well enough to TRY out the parks with jumps and stuff, but you won't see me bustin any 360s
and since i live in southern cali, i can only go about 3-4 times a year generally, durin winter...
i want one that'll last, and that'll be comfortable...i'm 17 so i won't be doing any significant growing, (although i hope i do)
i'm about 5'10 - 6', and a measly 135 :disgust:
i need boots, binding, and a board
you snowy people out there, help me out!

oh, recommend me lots of stuff....and
how much would a decent board go for? like i said, i'm not really, HARDCORE, so i don't think i need really high end stuff...
nice middle goods will be nice :)

try getting a wider board for more stability...I prefer RIDE snowboards but they can be expensive...make sure you get a good set a boots (nothing worse than having some crappy boots that hurt your feet)...I like my old burtons...

and one more hint that might make a huge difference--->gas pedals (they are little foam stickers that go on the board under your toes...they make it much easier to turn on the inside edge...

good luck

I second beatniks, get good boots. It is very important. Comfort is key.

I have a pair of DC Lupines and they have served me well. Expensive... but they're worth it.

As for boards, if you have big feet make sure to get a wide board or else your toes will be dragging and turning on the inside edge will be a PITA.

For a not too expensive high quality board I recommened K2. Stay away from some of the other traditional ski companies.
Or you could go all out and get a Ride or liquid...

I have a K2 double wide, serves me well. Burton also has a good lineup of wide boards. You'll also need to decide between steps and straps. I like straps... steps are convienent but can get clogged with ice.
