Geting the best Sound out of your Center Channel

Just saw this and I tried it out thought you would like to tr it out too if you didn't already now.
I you are able to turn your center channel Speaker vertical instead of Horizontal. I believe you we see that you get Better sound and can here the dialog a lot better if you do this.

I imagine this may work for some people but my center channel was designed specifically for horizontal placement. I don't think standing it on end would improve anything.

Yes that is true some center channel speakers wont let you set them up vertical, but a few will I am just getting 2 sets of bookshelf speakers for now and using them for mains and front and back center. will replace my surrounds later.
Having a matched center and main should give clear Dialog.
I would post what was talked about on the AVS forum about center channels but it was very long . He showed some very good resons why it sounded better and many stated after they tried it they noticed a big improvement.

I wont now till I pick up my speakers to day.

Why put a center channel in a vertical position? Why not just buy three identical speakers across the front?

In most cases, center channel speakers are designed to be horizontal.

That is what I am doing getting 2 bookshelf speakers sets, that gives me a front mains and a front and rear center.

But you are right not all ad I would say few center channel speakers can be set vertical I have seen a few that can and that is why I posted this along if someone has a spare bookshelf or the room for a tower to try it out.

Actually, most in use today are simply placed horizontally but they are in reality intended to be vertical. I am of course referring to the wildly popular MTM.

Most center channel speakers sound too much like a boom box. Understandably the space is at a premium in HT but still. (hence the OP)

Normal speakers (2-ways, usually) are meant to be used vertically. Center channel speakers, however, are used horizontally, and calibrated such for adequate off-axis performance.

IMO, a well-made center-channel that says "Mount Horizontally" (like those made by Bowers & Wilikins or Paradigm) will work best if used horizontally.

Sounds like you're implying that center channels aren't two ways, but three ways. Sure seems like most of the ones I see in the average consumers setup are two-way MTMs, used horizontally. Which as you know, is far from ideal.
