Just saw this over at Doom9 yesterday, will give it a shot. Insane mode was slow as hell before for me, so hopefully this will be a big enough boost for me to use for Pocket PC conversion (if not I'll stick to XviD or Nero AVC).

Anybody know if this cleaned up the playback performance. On mine and other systems it sometimes ran sluggish and skipped frames or paused even though CPU usage was low.

Any quality reviews between the different encoding modes, or just like 6.0?

"The decoder now supports multithreading for improved playback performance on all HT, SMP and dual core processors. To enable it you need to use the Decoder Configuration Utility (which you'll find in the 'DivX' group on your Start menu) to ensure "Reduce CPU spikes using one frame delay" is enabled and some level of post-processing is set (we recommend the default, "Automatic Deblocking"). Multithreading will then be applied to any video with B-frames, including most Home Theater and High Definition media. "

I would still stick with using ffdshow with Media Player Classic, or VLC for DivX playback, it's faster and less choppy (for me at least). The different quality levels appear to be the same, but just optimized for speed.

It you buy the create package, how do you use it? Does it incorporate itself for other programs, like Premiere Elements? Or is it a stand alone program used to convert other AVIs or mpegs to Divx?

You can use either the built-in encoder (which is easy but has limited options), the new open-source Dr. DivX (haven't tried this), or by the VFW interface which is just the DivX codec and can be used through Premier Elements or any other encoding software like VirtualDub, MeGUI, FairUse etc., so long as it supports DivX. DivxCreate Bundle and try this serial: SJHVBV3J43B3A2452S36
It's legit; I got it when they were giving away free licenses, but I never used it (I like x264 much better).

why not use divx if it's still being improved upon ? I'm excited about this speed improvement. Xvid is still on version 1.0.3 from how long ago (though I also use that).
