Get your ATI Boxed x800xl at MSRP today!

If you ever plan to get one, go to CompUSA today. Plenty left all over.
Look here and pick it up in a store near by.
I just got back from the TXGF after speaking with the Sapphire reps. They were NOT HAPPY that this is below what they are getting for their bulk cards on NewEgg. There will be emails flying and expect ATI to act as they will be meeting later today. ATI or CompUSA undercut Sapphire on the price jump with this before they were supposed to. Picking this up at the store for MSRP is TOO GOOD TO PASS UP! Although I told the Sapphire girl (cute) that I could wait 2 weeks for this to get worked out, I really think I should go get 3 and sell them in a hurry. HAHAHA.

yeah and send me 20 dollars

hahah . . . . . . NO! 😉

that $160 would get either :

1) HDTV Wonder

or

2) Deposit towards some Z5500s

I also got one at CUSA.

I'm a bit confused regarding your statements about Sapphire. Are you saying that they are upset that ATI is selling the card @ MSRP? That seems questionable since the MSRP price has been published since before the cards were even available. In any case, CUSA seems to be getting decent supplies, so they would be the place to buy.

It's in stock at the local Fry's in OC as well as Microcenter too so I"m not so sure what this means...

FWIW, palo alto fry's has 'em, and so does compusa in SF. Not a few of them, either.
I think the cat's out of the bag. I need them to make an agp version. PCI express is not ready for primetime yet.

This card is an X800 Pro for PCI Express right?

No, the X800 Pro is 475/450 12 pipelines, and the X800 XL is 400/500 16 Pipelines.
Then this is a nice card for the price. If I had a PCI Express mobo this would be my card.

oh yes, definitely

i'm talking about the X800XT vs the X800XL
The X850XT isn't clocked much higher than the X800XT. I'm not sure the slightly higher clocks and nicer cooler (edit: both X850s have the dual-slot cooler, right?) are worth an extra $150+.

Anyway, benchmarks are the answer, and there are many around comparing an X850 with an X800XL. Here's a pretty clear overview: 1, 2. Anand has numbers with an A64. The XL looks to be about 10-15% slower than the X800XT, and maybe 15-20% slower than the X850XT.

Assuming the ATi X800XL has a quiet cooler and you're not overly concerned with gaming at 16x12 w/AA, I'd go with the XL over either XT. IMO--and this should be obvious--a 10-20% higher framerate isn't worth a 50% higher price tag. The money you save can go into a fund for R520 or NV50, which should show up sometime this year.

Actually the PCIe card is my sole determiner as to when I will upgrade. The 6200 mods have me interested for the tinkerer in me, but the X800XL may make me convert.😉🙂

Well, if I was going to wait for my video card to be the reason for a major system upgrade, I'd have to wait for a game to come out that laughs at my card (maybe Unreal 3).

But I'm planning on getting an nForce Professional 2200 system and hopefully a dual core chip later this year. If I do that, I'll HAVE to upgrade my video card.
