If I installed Windows ME using the upgrade version over Win 98 SE, is there any way I can go back to 98?

haha that sounds pretty bad! Anyway, I don't think there's a way to uninstall window ME but I could be wrong. I'm about 70% sure that's the case.

You should have done a clean full install. Upgrading form win98 has alot of problems. You can still do a full install with an upgrade disk.
