On my MS6163Pro in the bios it was set on auto. With this setting I bumped the FSB to 115 and got my P3 800 to 886. Any higher setting won't boot. So I went to change the voltage. I tried it all the way up to 1.9 and still could go no higher than 115 FSB and the cpu speed stayed at 886. I have seen many examples here of cpu's OC'ing way past that. What is holding it back? I have 256K of PC133 but it is mid grade. In the bios it is at cas3. Should I set the bios to autodetect the ram settings? Or is it that my cpu is for the most part maxed out? My cpu temp at boot up and when I ran one of those sensor reading proggies is 31-33 celcius. My T-bird runs at 49 so I know it's not a heat issue.

"On my MS6163Pro in the bios it was set on auto"
"it" being the voltage.

It could be your PCI devices are having a prob with that 115 FSB. It would mean they would be running at ~38Mhz. Some HDs might not like that. You're still a bit too low on the FSB to enable a 1/4 divisor for the PCI (if possible).

is that temperature core or external?
at the end of the day each cpu has an o/clocking limit & you may just have gotten a poor specimen to work with!

Poof- it runs at 115 fine. Won't go higher no matter what voltage I set it on.
Bacillus- That temp is from the reading in the bios. Also I have a Golden Orb on the cpu but no other fans to cool things in general so my mobo temp idles at 39 more or less. I haven't worried about it because my Athlon system runs much hotter.
My main question is what can I do to get over the 115 hurdle? I know there has to be more juice in that cpu somewhere:) It's only 86 over. Some will go way over a gig from 800 so mine has to go a little faster!
/me clasps hands and cries out to the heavens:p

I had some 800's and they did not do much better, but I don't believe your 1/4 pci divider kicks in until either 117MHz or 124MHz fsb on that board, don't remember which.

The best overclocker is still the P3 700E, as far as P3 go.
