Get text messages off of a mobile phone?

Is there anyway to get text messages from a Motorola Q onto e-mail or otherwise on a computer so they can be saved and/or printed? The phone is on Verizon, if it makes a difference, and they say you cannot (But I rarely believe what the carriers tell you about what you can do with a phone - they are wrong A LOT).
