See the ad in this week's Sunday paper.... A photographer friend of mine runs out and buys 6 sunday paper's when this particular coupon comes out (usually every 6-8 weeks). seems like a pretty cool deal for people like me who still have all their impressionists prints up in their living room with thumb tacks from when I was back in College... If anyone knows of a better framing deal by all means let me know...

Since my dad was the framing manager at a Michaels I can tell you it's not that great of a deal. For one they almost always have the 50% going...more like every other week not every eight weeks. Also, the markup there is 300% to 500% and sometimes higher. So even at 50% off you're still paying for around 200% markup. The markup is so high because they run close to a constant 50% off sale. Same goes for MJ Designs and Garden Ridge framing centers where he was also manager at different times.

Custom framing is a total ripoff. I just go get some oak molding at Home Depot and break out the power miter saw and glue the pieces together. I then go down to the friendly glass shop and get a piece of plate for $10 or $15.

Edit: Plus, Michaels has 40-50% off one item coupons every couple of weeks. If your picture/poster is a standard size you can just buy a premade frame at half off.

That's all great to know, but can you give me some info on the general public getting a better deal than this one?
