Everytime i start to get in shape after a prolonged vacation from working out, i get sick. Last time i got bronchitis and the time before that i was just sick for a week. (temperature, aches, sore throat, etc)

I'm assuming that the initial period puts a shock on my immune system. Does anyone else get this problem? I want to prevent it this time around b/c it always affects my motivation.......so i was hoping for tips on what to eat/take during the first couple of weeks to prevent it from happening.

Should i just take extra multivitamins?

Any specific reason why you take breaks from working out? I suggest keeping a steady routine would do a lot more good than upping on vitamins.

reasons? yes b/c each time i stopped its b/c i got a second job b/c i was low on money. and well 6 months ago i did it again. with gas prices and stuff my monthly expenses went up another couple hundred. so i got a second job and it wore me out trying to workout on top of it.

now i got a promo at work so i can stop the second job 4 days a week, and just do it on weekends.

Perhaps you could do a couple dozen pushups after waking from your nap, or before going to work. They don't take very long.

that used to happen to me but I solved the problem by easing into working out again instead of just going back to my normal routine.

exactly. i stretch, do 3 sets of 25 pushups and 3 sets 25 situps with a 30-45 second break between each set. 20 minutes or less depending what is on the history channel at 6:30.

You have to ease into your routine. Don't try picking up where you left off. Getting ill is a sign of over training.

Happened to me more than once.

I thought perhaps it might just have been a coincidence.

Doesn't happen any more though, but at the same time, I do sleep a lot now.
