I was planning on setting up a dual boot XP / Vista, though Vista gave me an error half way through (as I expected, since I tried to install it on an external firewire drive

Now everytime I start my computer it comes up with an error saying Vista didn't load properly and 3 options to choose from: Earlier version of Windows, Windows, and Recovery (or something like that). I have to choose Earlier Version for it to boot into XP every time and it's starting to get on my nerves.
Any way I could fix this? I checked the boot.ini file and it's the way it's supposed to be. I also completely wiped the drive that had Vista on it (well, partially on it anyway).
