Get new tires or keep patching?

Long post short.

It turns out that the area I live in has dirt roads that are littered with nails, screws and other sharp pointy things that love tires. One tire has been patched 5 times in less than three months and the rest aren't doing well either but they only have ~10,000Mi on them. If I do end up replacing them I Want to try and get a light truck tire with thicker rubber that will at least have a small chance of deflecting punctures.

So should I try and bother getting stronger tires now, or keep patching the tires I have until it becomes too much. I'll have to replace them sooner or later because you can only get so many holes before it's no longer safe to use a tire. So I guess it comes down to how much longer can I ride on these tires?

Five times. Wow. I'll walk thanks.

New tires. Your only option, IMHO. Pay more for a well known brand. I'm just assuming you have cheap tires on there now. If not, then I guess you need to get out of the gutter when you drive!

Ya, that's what I thought.

I'm looking at a set of Yokohamas for my car, know of any other tires in this size that are good on/off-road and are a little tougher than average?

This just reall pisses me off that I'm having to replace my tires after only three months. :frown:

Look for thicker carcass tires, usually means going up load levels, like C or D range. My D range didn't stop a railroad spike, although it held it in at low speeds.

Only issue is my car's stock size it 205/60/16 (07 Suzuki SX4) so I don't have much room to grow, leaving me with not many options as far as truck tires go.

you might be able to fit a larger tire if you get smaller wheels. A set of simple steel wheels probably wouldn't cost too much.

Seems like the underwriters of road hazard warranties would love to hate you... ;)
