Get new phone now or wait?

The wife wants a new phone and I was thinking about getting her one for Christmas. Our 2-year contract is up in May, but I think I can get an Incredible or X from Verizon for like $100/$150 direct from them. From Amazon I think I can get it for free... not 100% sure.

Is there any reason to wait a few months to get her a new phone or would an X or Incredible be good for a while still? Just wondering if there is a compelling reason to hold off.

If his wife is like most wifes I don't think gaming is going to be a top priority.

OP: Depends on her uses. If she just uses for phone uses and a calender then go ahead as she'll never know the difference. If she is more of a power user then I would wait for your contact. You have dual core CPU's coming in the next set of refreshes. Netflix support should be incorporated on new phones as well. Word is Netflix will not work on current phones, only specific new models.
