Get Line-in and Microphone working at the same time?

I have an Xbox 360 hooked up with a VGA cable. I got a RCA to 3.5mm adapter and plugged into my line-in. Problem is only either mic or line-in works at a time. How can I get both to work at the same time? I have a Razer Barracuda AC-1

I would check Razer's support site. It's probably a driver specific issue, and I have not used that particular sound card before. If there is a little icon n the system tray for your sound card driver, try poking around in there to see f you can find anything.

Is there some way to make the line-in just reroute and play out of the speakers or something?

There is no hardware problem. What you have is a limitation of the OS. The SOund controls only support a single at a time. You can only have either the Mic or the line in select not both.

If you need both then i suggest getting a small mixer that supports a mic. This wany you can plug bother the mic and the xBox's sound into the mixer then feed the mixer into the PC threw the Line in port.

You can't bypass this with any software?

Nope. Unfortunaly its a limitation of most cards as well. There are studio grade sound cards that offer up multiple inputs and allows more then one input to go threw. They are exspecive and come with there own software mixers to control the card.

Now you can hook the Xbox dirrectly to the speakers but it will take a couple of cable to pull it off.

First you'll need a cable to take the red and white RCA connectors form the console down to a regular headphone jack, I assume you already have this cable. Then you'll need a headphone splitter. Plug the headphone plitter into the speaker plug on your PC. Then plug the speakers in one side and the console on the other. Now both the PC and the system can share the speakers.

Ok, so I got the first one. I've plugged my headphones into one of the female ones and the input from the Xbox into one. I then plugged that into the sound out from the computer. I hear things except the sound is very low quality and only plays the left channel from the computer.

I've also tried plugging in both microphone and Xbox into line in. However, when I do this I can hear the Xbox and my computer as before but the Microphone doesn't work.

Which am I supposed to connect to what?
