Get better flexibility... HOW?!

I've been spending about 15 minutes every day for a month stretching now.. Ever since my car accident, my flexibility has gone to sh!t (especially in my back, shoulders, and neck). I used to be able to come close to touching my hands behind my back - the top-down, bottom-up method. Now, I'm about 8 inches apart.

I'd like to have more flexibility in general. I stretch every day. Is there any other methods to use to accelerate flexibility? Should I ask my doctor for more muscle relaxers (SOMA-350 is what I was prescribed before)?

BTW: DON'T GET IN A CAR ACCIDENT - EVEN IF IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT. I feel that any money I get from any sort of settlement won't matter if this pain lasts me for the rest of my life.

I've had two different friends get in relatively minor accidents and end up with back/neck/spine issues that have lasted for years. It sucks.

I don't have any quick answer to your question. Hopefully someone can offer good advice.

stretching 'cold' muscles isn't gonna do as much as stretching 'warm' muscles IIRC. if you're hurt, obviously you might not be able to do some kind of warmup or exercise first, but it's just a suggestion.
depending on how injured you are yoga may or may not be a good option.
