Does anyone knows when will AMD CPU support DDR2? I wanna upgrade my memory but because of that holding me back the idea. Currently I am using 2x512MB and would like to get 2x1G. Should I do the upgrade now or wait till AMD64 support DDR2 or even faster memory.

i have a feeling ill be sayen "screw M2" but who knows. i jumped on the memory because i got it for alot less than usual. i would say upgrade now. might as well right? M2, from what i hear, will not give much of a preformance jump from the A64s out now. honestly i cant use all the processing power i have now. even in games any A64 over 2.2 should be fine. unless you do something other than gaming.........is there anything? ya thought not. so in short upgrade now.

Wouldnt be holding my breath for M2... Your A64 s939 will not work in M2/DDR2. So either live with 1gig for a yr and then trade up when M2 comes out (new mobo, proc, mem)

Simple question to ask yourself, do you need 2gb now? If you go 2gb DDR2 next year, then you're talking buying a whole new system.

I would just upgrade now. If you were to wait for socket M2, you would have to get a new CPU, and new motherboard, to go with the new ram, and DDR-2 is highly unlikely to improve performance for the A64, and may have the oposite effect due to the higher latencies.

Yea, but honestly how many programs really take advantage of 2 GB of ram? If you already have a GB I'd wait.

BF2 definatly runs better with 2 gig of ram, as well as a lot of MMORPG's, and photoshop. My main rig will have no less that 2 gig of ram at this point.

I think with the number of folks using X2 cpus now, the amount of applications that you can open and have running is increased greatly. 2GB allows all of these apps to run much smoother. And then you have some single apps that are huge memory hogs.

If you do the upgrade now you can't get DDR2 unless you want it sitting on the shelf until you buy an M2 proc. No current A64 will allow you to run DDR2 ram.

Exactly. And wasting your money on DDR2 for an Athlon64 system that won't have a supporting motherboard until mid next year is insanity. The price of DDR2 will come down significantly by then, and I'm sure you will be able to get even faster DDR2 for cheaper then.
