Um, technically hell would be a spiritual realm. But I guess it's not so don't let your kids dig too deep in the sandbox.

She's correct... to my knowledge, there's only one mention of hell being a place of fire, and that's a single passage in Revelations. Every other passage mentions "wailing and gnashing of teeth", something to that effect. Most of what I've read in Scripture points to Hell being "an absence of God", an existential, spiritual condition, not a physical one.
I don't agree with his arguments regarding suffering, either. While God let others use their free will to harm others in unimaginable ways, that doesn't mean that it doesn't cause Him pain when that was done.
