I was out doing some zone work for the transportation dept of our regional govn't this morning, at 10am and already a bum carrying a big bottle of mouth wash was asking me for money.

Damn bums, where's the metaphorical carpet to sweep them under when you need it.

Becareful, you might think that was a bum, but he might have been an angel in disguise.

Splash them by driving through a puddle when they're standing on the sidewalk

You know the bums that hang around the UT campus in Austin,TX also start fights and talk sh!T to the students...when I went down there I thought that was hilarious. If there's anyone I'd like to beat the piss out of, its a useless bum.

Some bums can make pretty good tax-free money. Personally I don't like most of them and they should buggar off. I do feel sorry for some who have real problems, like the guy I saw eating fries and coffee out of a garbage bin.

Even if they put themselves in the situation to become homeless panhandlers I can't help but feel sorry for them. There is no telling what went on in some of their lives. I don't make excuses for them but unless we've walked a mile in their shoes...

The problem isn't that every homeless person doesn't want to work...it's that you need a residence or home in order to even get a friggin job!!!

Be extra careful, he could just be a bum pretending to be an angel so he could steal your wallet!

A lot of them are boozers...but when I saw that guy by the road holding a sign that said "Homeless vet, will work for food" I wished I had work for him.

Probably a lie; most of these people will lie their faces off for money.

I worked at a homeless shelter / soup kitchen all through high school. it really changes your perspective... a lot of homeless people aren't lazy, just really down on their luck.

it's increadibly hard to land a job when you don't have a place to live, or have clean clothes, or even have a place to shower.

Many of the "bums" have quite a system worked out and on the right corner can clear over $20,000/year easy...........

Perhaps you tech IT job hunters should just do bumming for a living instead :D

I'd love to help a homeless person that actually needed and wanted it. Unfortunately, it's almost impossible to tell those hobos from the ones that'll stab you.

We've all seen a man at the liquor store beggin' for your change
The hair on his face is dirty, dread-locked, and full of mange
He asks a man for what he could spare, with shame in his eyes
"Get a job you fvcking slob," is all he replies
God forbid you ever had to walk a mile in his shoes
'Cause then you really might know what it's like to sing the blues

Then you really might know what it's like...
Then you really might know what it's like...
Then you really might know what it's like...
Then you really might know what it's like...

Mary got pregnant from a kid named Tom that said he was in love
He said, "Don't worry about a thing, baby doll
I'm the man you've been dreaming of."
But 3 months later he say he won't date her or return her calls
And she swear, "God damn, if I find that man I'm cuttin' off his balls."
And then she heads for the clinic and
she gets some static walking through the door
They call her a killer, and they call her a sinner
and they call her a whore
God forbid you ever had to walk a mile in her shoes
'cause then you really might know what it's like to have to choose

Chorus

I've seen a rich man beg
I've seen a good man sin
I've seen a tough man cry
I've seen a loser win
And a sad man grin
I heard an honest man lie
I've seen the good side of bad
And the downside of up
And everything between
I licked the silver spoon
Drank from the golden cup
And smoked the finest green
I stroked the fattest dimes at least a couple of times
before I broke their heart
You know where it ends, yo, it usually depends on where you start

I knew this kid named Max
He used to get fat stacks out on the corner with drugs
He liked to hang out late
he liked to get shit-faced and keep the pace with thugs
Until late one night there was a big gun fight and Max lost his head
He pulled out his chrome .45, talked some sh!t, and wound up dead
Now his wife and his kids are caught in the midst of all of this pain
You know it crumbles that way
at least that's what they say when you play the game
God forbid you ever had to wake up to hear the news
'Cause then you really might know what it's like to have to lose

Then you really might know what it's like...
Then you really might know what it's like...
Then you really might know what it's like...to have to lose

wrong, there are plenty of companies that pay "under the table". How many illegals work in home construction? Many. How many bums work in hime construction? None. Both are not checked for residency.

Another example - A company I worked for 10 years ago was having a building constructed. The construction manager would walk across the street to a homeless shelter and offer some of the bums $7-8/hour just to sweep the dust and dirt from the construction. He never had one bum accept his offer.

a crapload of vietnam vets ended up homeless at one point or another, largely due to mental illness. and a crapload of those who weren't vets are also mentally ill. there was a time when these people would be taken care of by public loony bins, but Reagan kicked them all to the curb and now they wander around without their meds, contributing to crime and pissing off easily offended wimps like Magnum and Maverick.

think about it, would you starve and freeze on the streets with no friends you can trust, just so you didn't have to have a job? no? that's because YOU'RE SANE. The homeless and ex-homeless people I've talked to (and I mean more than just "no change today") were all either mentally ill, hopelessly addicted to hard drugs, or both. They had no one to help them with the problems that led to them being homeless in the first place. But statisically, the single fastest group of people who are becoming homeless are families.
