$600 for a video card.... It just boggles the mind. Good on ya if that's what you want/need/can afford/etc, but.... dayumn. If I spend $150 I feel I've broke the bank. Plus, the $150 card I bought becomes a $50 card in a year or so.

That's my point. Why spend $150 on a card that is worth $50 next year?

Why not invest in a high end card, and then resell it after year since the depreciation won't be that high.

Plus, I sold my 6800 GT for $300. I took that $300 and reinvested that into the 7800 GTX. So I'm only paying like $299. (Or $231 if I went with Dell which is not really a lot).

What the hell are you smoking? high-end video cards depreciate much more quickly (in terms of absolute dollars) than lower end cards. Your $600 video card will be worth *maybe* $300 next year.

Not unless it's a BFG....cause they have true lifetime warranty...so the value goes up. I think my card will be worth $400 by next year. I'll throw in same games to spice it up like I did with my 6800 GT. Then, when a new video card arrives, I'll just take that money and reinvest it into the new video card paying less than $250. The equity in a BFG is always high since it's TRUE lifetime warranty.

Lastly, I like using the best. And if upgrading to the best is only $250? I'll take it.

You're right though...depreciation is higher....but I still like getting a high end card...or in this case...highest end...lol

BTW, if you are willing to blow $600 on a video card, $66 is really nothing. Let looks at it this way, how much you already spend on the building that computer? $1200+? $66 out of that is peanut. If it takes you 3 more weeks to finish the computer, the parts might go down in value already. So in really, you not going to save $66. More likely $5 plus lost time.

It's actually free shipping to ship it back cause I'll just refuse the shipment.

Also, I got the AMD tech tour bundle so that was only $250.

I sold for my BFG 6800 GT for $300 so I took that and used it to buy my 7800 GTX. I already have my case and hard drives so the video card is the last thing.

So in the end, the total cost of my new computer is about $650-$700.

What do you think now? Should I still accept it or return it?

Your new computer still worth over $1000. Even if you use old parts, but those parts still have values, i.e. $300 for your 6800 GT as an example.
BTW, how much do you value your time? Why put down that much money get the latest & greatest but willing to delay for however long on $66. Look at the big saving, not just the monetary values.

Is $66 > 2+ wk of (waiting + enjoyment on new compuer + parts devaluationin)
