wheeee... finally, my first time posting good deals :D

anyways, citibank is having an offer now for people who wants to open new bank account and use online bill payment service:

get 75usd for opening new checking account, link from main site

also, my friend sent me this link (which is not visible from the main site):
get 100usd for opening new checking account, using this link

**some fine print:
To receive this offer, you must open and fund a Regular Checking account with the Citibank® EZ Checking pricing package at www.citibankonline.com with a minimum initial deposit of $1500 by 3/31/03. $100 will be credited to your account within 60 days of funding your account.

hope it's good deal for all of us -D

How long must you keep it open? any penaly for closure?
Can existing members of Citibank (i.e. credit card) participate?

Thanks, I just opened an account.

If I like it, I might actually use it as my primary checking account.

i think you should have it open for at least 60 days (since that's when they will credit you ,))
also, i don't think having citibank credit card is a problem, because i did this about two years ago (50$ free) and got in with no problem

just make sure:
- you're not opening basic checking account (since it's not eligible)
- you use the online bill payment at least twice within the 60 days period
- get in before end of month
- put in 1500$ at minimum

they don't really have that detailed info ... but you can always call them up and ask around, then mention the offer code (on their website) at the end :)

I'll never deal w/ citibank because their credit card branch makes you agree to binding arbitration with all branches and affiliates. In other words, you give up your right to sue.

Is there a minimum balance required? Are you required to leave at least $1500 in for 60 days?

If you want to avoid the fees, yes.

Think of it as a 60 day CD with the highest interest rate this side of China.

Ah, another Citibank deal. Me thinks to jump on this one too.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Thanks. Further investigation shows that there are other ways to eliminate monthly fees with rebates. Use Direct Deposit, Monthly billpay or drafts to get $1 rebate per transaction. These are dependent on the state you live. In CA you get the month free if you use DD, but that can be a headache if you do not intend to keep the account.

Wait, I can't just avoid the fees by depositing $1500? I thought if I did a one-time $1500 deposit, I'd be okay, as long as it didn't drop below that?

Yes, keep $1500 and no fees. In CA have direct deposit and have no fees with any balance. If you pay fees, you can reduce those by getting rebates.
