Get 2X512 separately OR Get the 1 Gb Kit???

Planning to get 2 sticks of 512 Mb Corsair Value Select PC3200 CL2.5. Questions:
1. Will I have lower possibility of getting any bad sticks if I get the 1 Gb kit which has 2 512 Mb sticks sold as bundle? Kit is more expensive by $9
2. What's the difference between the OEM Kit (sold by Newegg at $173) vs the Retail Kit (sold by Zipzoomfly at $172)? Does the retail kit have 2 sticks (maybe from same lot) packaged together in a single pack? While the OEM maybe has 2 sticks in separate packs just sold together?

A while back I got 2x256mb of the same stuff for dual channel and it works great. Couple dollars cheaper and no gaurantee for dual channel but other than that it's identical to me.
