Why would I ever buy anything from Microsoft? ;)

It is a good deal for those that are interested

This might be an even better deal if you can find something you need (want?) that has a rebate like gaming hardware.

Thanks for the post!

Your price before discount: $109.90
Your price after $25.02 discount: $84.88 **

1 Microsoft® Sidewinder® Freestyle Pro
1 Microsoft® Crimson Skies? 1.0 Win32 English North America CD

Order Subtotal: $84.88 (not sure about S+H because I'm still thinking...)

- $30 mail in rebate for Sidewinder® Freestyle Pro

Total: $54.88 + S+H

...not a hot deal, but the lowest price for Crimson Skies is $39.99 + $4.99 S+H (EBWorld.com), so that means I'm getting the gamepad for about $10-15

altern8:

do you (or does anyone) know what the difference is between the force feed back joystick and the force feedback 2 stick?

the sidewinder 2 is just your standard sidewinder redesign (there is a basic model below this 1 which is even cheaper) and the sidewinder forcefeedback to is the same joystick as the sidewinder 2 but with force feeback capability ...

btw: i picked up the sidewinder 2 without force feedback at compusa ...

I have read that all the Force Feedback 2 have to be repacked, because the driver in the box produced nothing else than crashes. The repacking is believed to take a few weeks. Thats why you don't find it in the M-store.
The ones in the stores are sold, bigger B&M should have the driver closeby on a an external CD, or you have to download a beta driver. The final release will be on Oct. 17.

If your German is good you can read that at c't

PS: The crash-problem is specific to boards with VIA-Southbridge. Update only for 9x and ME. Win2000 will still crash :Q
