Get 2 Routers to See Each Other

Alright here's the deal. I have cable modem connected directly to a switch which connects to two different routers and therefore creates two different LAN's. Is it possible to get the two LAN's to see each other since they are both connected by a switch, yet still have they're own router settings/parameters.

The reason I ask is that my Dad won't let go of his older router which has a bunch of different firewall protection ect. However the router won't let a lot of the different gaming servers and other things through despite my opening ports and port forwarding. I have a different router that does work with my gaming servers so I have been using that. However my dad still wants access to my LAN to be able to share files.

Let me know if you need any more details

Unless your dad's ISP allows two IP addresses (and I bet that they don't) the second router will never connect to anything.

Hook your router to the cable modem, then hook your dad's router to the LAN side of your router. He can access the internet and still have the protection provided by his router, and he can also access your LAN.
