why did you add 1 to all the numbers? and what's with the -1?

just mutiple all the numbers together and take to the 1/5 power

EDIT: you punch the fifth root by using the "^" key for power, and then raise it to the 1/5th power.

It sounds like you're taking an investment course. That formula is not the geometric mean, but it is based on it.

1) Add 1 to all your numbers
2) Take the geometric mean of those numbers from step 1.
3) Subtract 1.

You're done.

EDIT: from the OP, you added the numbers instead of multiplying them. PI is the symbol for repeated multiplication.

YEp. Did that. Thanks. I was doing everything right except multiplying those numbers. I added them instead. And you have to add 1
