German speed limits are awesome i went 215 KPh that's 134 mph oh yeah baby that was one hell of a ride. And they still have less accidents per capita than the US. I wonder if the speed limits should be removed in the US nah, grandmas would go on a rampage.LOL

On the autobahn they do - on other streets they are just like speed limits here. And they suck more over there, because they don't have police officers pull you over, they have cameras, and then you get a little letter and picture in the mail telling you that you were speeding. At least here sometimes you can talk yourself out of a speeding ticket ;)

Last year my brother and I took turns getting a huge Mercedees sedan up to 220kph. Would have preferred to be in something a little sportier cause at that speed the car was startin to float.

Even took pics of the speedometer, lol :)

Loved the exit signs: Ausfahrten (no idea how to spell it).

Ever take a '78 GMC 4x4 3/4 ton pickup so far over 100MPH(160Km/h) that the 100MPH spedo starts to do weird stuff? Now that's fun.

(BTW: 400CID SB+full time 4x4+leaf springs all around makes for a stable ride)

Anybody here have the wonderful experience of having a car move into your lane 50 feet in front of you as you're approaching at 135mph?? it's not a good experience getting the car sideways at 135mph.... feels like your heart will beat itself right out of your chest. :) What was I doing at 135 in the U.S.??? it's called the idiocy of youth. :)

The reason that there are no speed limits on the autobahn is because they are the best designed motorways in the world :)

ps. I learned this from watching a documentary on the history channel ;)

Cheers,

Aquaman is right. Design is a constant process(road works). ;) That's why we don't have a speed limit. ;)

Specialist, Ausfahrten or whatever sounds like a** far*** to me lol.

Juvenile i know, but ...

Got to go to Cologne since a friend of mine was getting married there.

My brother and I decided to fly into Paris then drive to Cologne just because we wanted to go on the Autobahn. :)

I was expecting some kinda 8 lane each way superhighway. The parts I traveled on were just 2 lanes each way though.

Still it was a ton of fun. I think the scariest thing was seeing little Fiats that were basically a box on wheels passing me sometimes. :)

I tried to get an Audi A4 but they didn't have any at the airport. :(

Think the Mercedees was a C500 or so. At 220kph, had to make sure the road went pretty much straight for a long time :)

ahh, the wonderful autobahn. i had alot of fun on it too, except the little opel would only do 100 mph.

if they had no speed limits in the US, man, we'd all be dead real soon. americans generally aren't as skilled as germans at driving. think back, and remember how easy it was for you to get your driver's license. it isn't like that in germany.

i'm against raising the speed limit that far, not because i have any misgivings about my own ability to handle that speed. i just wouldn't trust being around any other driver doing those speeds.

That thing about the licence is true .
A licence in Germany costs up to 3 grand!!!!!!!$3000
Not $15 like here and you also have to complete 80 hours of behind the wheel training in Germany.
GO USA!
GO GERMANY! FOR SPEEDLIMITS!
