If you look at that dog's eyes, it looks like he's just yawning, not barking or snapping at anyone.

He looks totally innocent to me. They're cute dogs.

German Shepards are the best dogs, IMO. My family had one when I was a kid. It was the coolest dog, loved to play, never snapped no matter what we (4 kids) did to him. BUT if you came into our yard uninvited, (fenced, gated, posted w/warning signs) the dog would take you down and stand on your chest with his jaws around your throat until one of my parents called him off. How cool is that? At least 3 door-to-door salesman got taken down that way.

Pitbulls are not aggressive by nature, they're one of the most friendly dogs.

My old nextdoor neighbor's German Shephard just died. He was a wonderful dog. Very sweet...but man...I can just imagine him tearing someone apart. I was out mowing the lawn one day..just started it up, and after it started, he JUMPED up at the fence barking. Scared the crap out of me.

I want to see a picture like that of a police dog with titanium teeth.

Apparently police dogs have a bad habit of breaking teeth on suspects (buckles, snaps, etc), & they have titanium implants put in to be able to continue using the dog.

Now that would scare the living crap out of me were I a perp.

Actualy GSD's are very protective of their families, you'll hear plenty of stories of untrained GSD's attacking people who threatened a family member.

We defense trained both of ours (we had two white german shepards, lost one to cancer last year), still have the second. We wanted to know that if they did attack someone it was only (and only) because we ordered them to.

But as part of the training, you wind up wearing the safety suits letting other GSD's chase you down (you never ever ever let your own dog bite you). It's fun, but man the big males can hurt (our females were 100 pounds and 90 pounds, some of the males were 150). When they bring you down, you tend to go down!

I've worked with a few military police working dogs that were German Shepards and they were awesome. Working dogs kick ass.

As to the titanium teeth in the police dogs, I can imagine them saying, "Take this bling, bitch!" as they bite a perp.

My German Shepherd is very docile and friendly when we're out for our evening walk. He'll give you his paw and loves to be petted. And if you come on our property he'll rip your throat out. We're still working on that one, because he won't back down when I call him off unless he happens to be wearing the e-collar and I can light him up.

e-collar? That sounds like something we need here, to place on P4ME and alkamyst.

really!?
